Summer School 2025: A Cosmic Gathering in Prague Successfully Concluded

From September 2 to 4, 2025, the J. Heyrovský Institute of Physical Chemistry hosted the Summer School on Icy Moons Chemistry and Technology — an inspiring international gathering of scientists, early-career researchers, and students in the heart of Prague.

Over the course of three days, participants explored the mysteries of icy moons like Europa and Enceladus, diving deep into topics such as astrobiology, high-resolution mass spectrometry, space instrumentation, and AI-supported data analysis. The event brought together experts from renowned institutions and provided a vibrant platform for scientific exchange, cross-disciplinary dialogue, and networking.

A Diverse and Dynamic Program

The program featured four main thematic sessions: astrobiology, theory & artificial intelligence, high-resolution MS for space applications, and space technology in harsh environments.

Speakers such as Martin Ferus, Marshall Seaton, Maryse Napoleoni, Homa Saeidfirouzeh, Christelle Briois, Nozair Kawaja, and many others shared their latest research findings and mission-related insights. A number of presentations were also delivered remotely, ensuring global participation.

Networking, Culture, and Collaboration

The success of the Summer School demonstrated the power of in-person scientific exchange and interdisciplinary learning. Feedback from participants has been overwhelmingly positive, highlighting the engaging lectures, the warm atmosphere, and the potential for future collaborations across Europe and beyond.

We thank all speakers, participants, and organizers for making this event possible — and look forward to the next cosmic chapter in our journey together!
