The J. Heyrovský Institute of Physical Chemistry of the Czech Academy of Sciences is seeking a junior researcher to join the scientific team of the Department of Space Chemistry and Technology. The position focuses on data analysis from high-resolution mass spectrometers.
The successful candidate will be actively involved in all aspects of the research process — from experimental work and data evaluation to interpretation, publication, and presentation of scientific results.
Research Focus
The main topic of the research will be the design and development of software platforms for data analysis based on FFT (Fast Fourier Transform) using a GPU-accelerated approach, compatible with real-time data acquisition through an ADC FPGA module.
This position is particularly suitable for researchers with strong experience in mathematical analysis and the implementation of advanced numerical algorithms.
General Requirements
- Master’s degree in numerical mathematics
- Strong communication skills in both written and spoken Czech (important for outreach activities with high school students and public engagement) and English
Specific Requirements
- Extensive experience in programming (Python, C++, Matlab)
- Deep knowledge of mathematical and numerical methods
- Experience in 3D modeling (CAD or similar tools)
- Familiarity with ion trajectory simulations in ion optics (Simion, including LUA scripting)
