Postdoctoral Researcher in the Department of Space Chemistry and Technology

Job Description:

J. Heyrovský Institute of Physical Chemistry announces a selection procedure for a postdoctoral researcher position in the Department of Space Chemistry and Technology. The department focuses on instrumentation and development of new experimental methods for the advancement of new space applications. The position will focus on scientific activities in the design and construction of new prototypes of mass spectrometers for in-situ analysis of extraterrestrial material. The scientific work will include experiments, data evaluation and interpretation, publications and presentation of results, etc. Experience with vacuum apparatus, high-resolution mass spectrometers, their design and construction is required.  

Position Requirements:

  • Completed PhD studies in physics or chemistry
  • Czech language at communication level
  • English language enabling scientific work in both written and spoken form

Specific Requirements – experience in:

  • Mass spectrometry (with high mass resolution);
  • Work with high vacuum equipment;
  • 3-D model design (AutoCAD);
  • Ion trajectory simulation in ion optics (Simion);
  • Design and implementation of electrical circuits;
  • Design and implementation of RF traps and transport multipoles.

Expected start date / deadline

May 1, 2025 or by agreement

Position duration

36 months
